Mario Sironi in the collection Allaria
Focus on the Italian artist of 1900
100 works to explore the bond of friendship between the collector Antonio Allaria, a doctor of the hospital Codivilla Putti of Cortina d’Ampezzo, and the artist Mario Sironi.
By visiting the exhibition rooms of Mart Museum in Rovereto, you will admire politic works, figurative compositions and funny illustrations made by Mario Sironi, the latter were a present for the artist’s daughters and were then donated to Allaria, as a gift for his daughter’s birth.
The exhibition offers the chance to see a private and almost completely unknown Sironi, by showing many important moments of his research: from the first futurist works to modern class style of 1900, to the most important results of his work. The majority of the collection’s masterpieces belong to the most difficult years of the artist, indeed during the second postwar one of the artist’s daughter died and he met the hostility of critics.
On exhibition 60 masterpieces of Sironi, divided in 9 thematic areas, which are compared to other artists such as Morandi and Picasso. The monographic rooms dedicated to Anton Zoran Mušič, Renato Guttuso and Graham Vivian Sutherland, friends of Allaria, complete the exposition.
The works are also related to the masterpieces of Mart Collections. The conversation between “old” and “new” guests, selected by thematic coherence, makes unique the exposition of Rovereto.
