Uva e Dintorni – Grapes and nearby
Where? Sabbionara d'Avio
In the City of Wine, the feast of the harvest and the national barrel rolling competition
Tasting of wines, visit of vineyards and dinner in the “courtyards of taste” with music, theatre, drummers and fantasy characters at a few kilometres from Verona.
With “Uva e dintorni (grapes and nearby)” Trentino celebrates the beginning of the harvest on the first weekend of September in Sabbionara d’Avio, the village of the castle of FAI. Here you can discover the atmosphere of the past through views of the Medieval life and ancient jobs.
Discover the “hobby-market” and the artistic-handcrafts exhibition; take part to “bread-course” with Matilde’s farmer or to guided tours to vineyards with local wine tasting. For dinner we suggest you to choose typical menus, served in the “courtyards of taste” with local salamis and cheeses, home-made cakes, wines, liquors and coffee.
Itinerant shows and music will entertain the old town during the whole festival. Don’t miss the aerial acrobatics show on Saturday!
The National barrel rolling competition among the “towns of wine” will take place on Sunday, September 3rd. The competition is divided into four trials: thrust of the barrel uphill, parallel slalom with the barrel, grape crushing and at the end filling of the barrel with buckets of water.
The final event, at night, will enchant you with the traditional fireworks show.
Uva e dintorni, the harvest festival is waiting for you in Trentino, not far from Verona!
