Campobrun Guided Nature Reserve
A Wild Nature Amphitheatre
Among majestic peaks and unspoiled nature: a hidden corner waiting to be discovered
Established in 1971, the reserve covers 429 hectares, characterised by a wild and untouched landscape, with steep valleys, limestone cliffs and vast expanses of alpine meadows.
Access from the Trentino side is challenging yet evocative, helping preserve its authenticity.
Protected by the “Piccole Dolomiti“, the reserve enjoys a unique microclimate that favours a rich variety of vegetation. In the lower forests grow beech trees, firs and larches, while above 1,600 metres there are mountain pines, junipers and rare alpine species such as the Rampion bellflower and the Lady’s slipper orchid. The lush pastures provide high-quality forage, influencing local dairy production. The fauna is rich and protected, including chamois, black grouse, rock partridges and marmots.
Numerous mountain huts and alpine farms, such as Malga Campobrun and Rifugio Scalorbi, represent the mountain tradition and provide resting points for hikers and explorers. Nearby, Rifugio Revolto, Passo Pertica and Rifugio Fraccaroli complete the hospitality network in this splendid natural area.
