When?

Dance meets nature and territory

Two seasons, summer and autumn, and four events through Vallagarina and Monte Baldo with themed walks and food and wine experiences.

Crossing limits, boundaries, passes through a movement, a motion. Changes in the history of human beings are often marked by rituals, ceremonials that emphasise our need to feel part of a whole. In many rituals throughout the world, it is not difficult to find the movement of the body, be it a dance or a walk.

The Sconfinamenti review returns with works by both established international artists and young local choreographers. The fil rouge is the relationship with nature and between people, in four appointments that traverse natural spaces, highlighting how the environment and its care are essential elements for our lives and our relationship with others. Each appointment will be enriched by the interventions of a mid-mountain guide who will guide the public through the knowledge of the territory and the natural elements that characterise it, ranging from the blossoms of Monte Baldo to the waters of the Leno di Vallarsa, from the rocks of the Val di Gresta to immersion in the sounds of nature in Cei.

Calendar

Friday 1 July 2022 5.30 p.m.
Hasta Dónde?
With Sharon Fridman and Arthur Bernard-Bazin

The award-winning duet brings to the stage a physical confrontation between two bodies, two personalities questioning the concept of distance.
To what extent can we transmit to the other? How much can one suffer?
How far can one push and be pushed by physical manipulation?
The aim is to find a common world based on the concept of giving and receiving, of mutual trust and support that is only created when one body offers another an opportunity for freedom.
Sharon Fridman’s work has always stemmed from the connection between people, their bodies and their souls, and the building of the relationship that develops during collaboration and encounter.

Programme
5.30 p.m. Meeting point at Rifugio Monte Baldo
Followed by Discovering the flora of Monte Baldo, a themed walk with botanist and mid-mountain guide, Giulia Tomasi (approx. 30 minutes). Through an easy ring-route we will reach a small church from which we will be able to appreciate the Baldo landscape and enjoy the splendid spring blossoming. Mount Baldo, in fact, has been considered the ‘Hortus Europae’, Garden of Europe, since 1500 for its floristic biodiversity: over 2,000 species of plants grow there. This mountain, which in terms of surface area covers only 0.2 per cent of the Alps, is in fact home to more than 40 per cent of Alpine flora.
6.15 p.m. Arrival at the Church of Madonna della Neve and viewing of the performance
(duration 20 minutes)
7.15 p.m. Dinner at Rifugio Monte Baldo
– Adult menu – Fresh handmade egg pasta with homemade ragout, water and coffee.
– Children’s menu – Fresh handmade egg pasta with homemade ragout and water.

Val di Gresta, Manzano

Sunday 25 September, 3 p.m.
To the moon and back – When the mountain coincides with the sky
With the company Il Posto

A sequence of choreographic actions whose fil rouge is nature and dreams with the intention of showing the spectator a different reality that exists in an untouchable universe.
Reality as ineffable as a dream that mingles in the depths of our unconscious.

Programme
3 p.m.: Meet at the car park at the entrance to the hamlet of Manzano (Nagià Grom trenches)
Followed by The rocks of Val di Gresta, history of a valley in motion between ancient seas and lost glaciers, popular walk with Alberto Stinghen, medium mountain guide and geologist (approx. 2 hours). A short hike along quiet paths to discover a characteristic corner of the Gresta Valley. We touch upon the pleasant hamlet of Corniano, the ancient small church of Sant’Agata and the ruins of castel Frassem, amidst views typical of the mid-mountain of the Trentino pre-Alps. The careful observation of the rocks also allows the interesting geological evolution of the area to be reconstructed.

Cei, Malga Cimana

Sunday 9 October 10 a.m.
DislocActions
With Marco Chenevier

Nature comes to life in an itinerary along which the performers animate woods, trees and meadows, which thus become an integral part of the performance.
Acrobatics, music, dances and stories are performed site-specific; the performers, like nature spirits, become part of the landscape, giving it life and feeding off it at the same time.

Programme
10 a.m. Meeting point at Malga Cimana
Followed by Il fruscio dei passi (The rustling of footsteps), a path of progressive immersion in the sound dimension of nature with Anna Forti, mid-mountain companion and counsellor, interspersed with a few moments of performance (approx. 2h30). An easy loop itinerary, winding through beech forests, coniferous woods and hay meadows, suitable for deepening one’s contact with nature thanks to a brief experience of conscious listening.
The route connects two different, albeit homonymous malgas: Malga Cimana dei Presani, a modern and welcoming accommodation facility, and the more sober Malga Cimana di Pomarolo, still partially in the old style. The wide panoramas opening up near both malgas inform the walker of the surrounding area, placing it halfway between Vallagarina and Monte Bondone.
1.30 p.m. Lunch at Malga Cimana
– Adult menu – Canederlotti with herbs on Casolét cream and beverage of your choice
– Children’s menu – Pasta in white sauce or with beef ragout and beverage of your choice

Vallarsa, Arlanch

Sunday 12 June 9.30 a.m.
THE MöA
With Lorenzo Morandini

The water flows steadily down the stream, expands, wraps around large boulders and waterworks, runs on a fluid path in perpetual regeneration.
All around are animals of all shapes and sizes, plants with fruit, trees and shrubs.
The water is inhabited, there are branches broken by a storm, a dented spray can, fish, a worn-out slipper … and the body. A body that explores, searches and observes. The torrent speaks, the body responds, inhabits it, interrogates it; a submerged world is revealed, made up of invisible and ephemeral impressions that are transmitted between body and environment, as the boundaries blur and the components adjust in a landscape of its own balance, of that space, in that instant.

Programme
9.30 a.m. Meeting at the Arlanch Mill with a visit to the structure by Miriam Gios
10.30 a.m. The soul of a valley: the waters of the Leno di Vallarsa, themed walk with Novella Volani, mid-mountain guide, interspersed with some performing moments (approx. 1h30). An easy walk that allows you to immerse yourself in enchanting landscapes rich in history: the village of Arlanch, almost a monument to the traditional architecture of the ancient pre-Alpine villages, with its mill still in operation (one of the rare places where exhibition and ‘museum’ didactics meet production) and the upper course of the Leno di Vallarsa, with its roaring, singing waters, a necessary resource for the valley’s ancient inhabitants and sweet refreshment for us. The excursion ends at Riva di Vallarsa, where it is possible to visit the Museum of Peasant Civilisation, an immersion in the daily life of our ancestors.
12.00 noon arrival in Riva di Vallarsa and lunch at Hotel Ristorante Passo Buole:
– Adult menu – Green gnocchi, salad, panna cotta with wild berries, water and coffee
– Children’s menu – Pasta with meat sauce or tomato sauce, Chips, dessert, beverage of your choice (water or soft drink)
Afterwards return free with the possibility of visiting the Museum of Rural Civilisation of Vallarsa.

The Image

The exhibition image was created by Anna Formilan, who illustrated the connection between people and nature, with the touch of the dream dimension that this relationship sometimes suggests. The elements that make up the image include the successive ages of life, a group of people walking together, floral or foliage notes indicating the passage of the seasons in the two versions of the image. Finally, an inhabitant of the forest is in flight with a tilted head turned towards human beings but also towards those who look at him from outside: an invitation to all to follow him and join the path.

The project is realised thanks to the collaboration between Oriente Occidente and ApT Rovereto, Vallagarina and Monte Baldo.

In order to take part in the experience, please remember to comply with the Covid provisions with respect to the regulations currently in force.
