Science and Archaeology Museum

Forget the traditional museum that is just a showcase for artifacts!

Archaeology, zoology, botany, astronomy, earth sciences and robotics are the disciplines that animate the museum, from the permanent rooms with their rich collections to the temporary exhibitions on different topics.

On the ground floor of the Museum of Science and Archaeology, one of the two sites of the Fondazione Museo Civico di Rovereto, is the Botany exhibition, which tells the story of the vegetations of Trentino, the history and floristic richness of Mount Baldo, while the Mineralogy room explores the different geological landscapes of Trentino and their transformation. In the Palaeontology rooms, the visitor is led through the discovery of fossils and dinosaurs with in-depth information related to the area, such as the palaeontological site of dinosaur footprints at Lavini di Marco. Not to be missed is the immersive Planetarium, which allows visitors to take a journey through the Universe via the Solar System.

On the second floor, the Zoology rooms display one of the most important ornithological collections in the region, while the Archaeology rooms present the territory through local finds from the Neolithic period to the Longobard civilisation. The room dedicated to the Rovereto archaeologist Paolo Orsi and his collection of objects from Magna Graecia completes the tour.
