The City Museum Foundation of Rovereto offers robotics workshops, astronomy lessons, excursions to discover dinosaur footprints, visits to the botanical gardens of Brentonico.
Go on a journey within the seven faces of science through the collections of the City Museum Foundation of Rovereto, one of the most ancient museums of Italy: archeology and art, botany and zoology, numismatics, earth science and astronomy. Here focus on historical collections merges with innovation.
These are the main activities you can engage in at the museum:
- Robotics workshops
At the first Italian Lego Education Centre to help you approach scientific knowledge in a fun and active manner.
- Lessons at the Planetarium
shows and astronomy lessons in a “cosmic journey” that begins with our planet and then takes you to the farthest reaches of the universe.
- Nature activities and Experiment Area
investigate the theme of biodiversity, surrounded by a veritable citadel of scientific research and education in the Bosco della Città.
- Excursions on Dinosaur Footprints
take a journey in geology to discover the hundreds of footprints imprinted on the grey limestone of Lavini di Marco and collected in the only site of its kind in Europe.
- Villa Romana in Isera
the roman era in Trentino seen through a monument that is the only one of its kind in all Trentino Alto Adige.
- Astronomical Observatory on Monte Zugna
gaze at the canopy of heaven through a telescope, in the silence of Monte Zugna at an altitude of 1,600 meters, just a 40 minute drive from Rovereto.
- Guided tours to the Botanical gardens of Brentonico
500 species of plants and flowers of Monte Baldo, classified by the botanists of the City Museum Foundation.
In October the museum organizes the International Festival of Archeological Film.

Educational activities and guided tours are available all year round by prior booking, including off site.
Lessons at the planetarium every Saturday and Sunday at 16:45. From June to September the lessons take place on the second and third Saturday of the month at 16.45 and on the last Sunday of the month at 20.30.
Opening time: Tuesday – Sunday 9:00-12:00/15:00-18:00
Closing time: Monday (except on bank Holiday)
